"The main occupation for the people of Vaxholm in the late 19th century was fishing. The fresh Vaxholm herring was very popular in Stockholm. It was not salted, but fresh daily. It was rowed in every morning to the market square in Stockholm and was therefore much sought after. People rowed long distances to pick up this herring, sometimes as far as Sandhamn. Even today, Vaxholm is known for Waxholmsströmming - a delicacy that is still served in Vaxholm's restaurants."

We are proud to carry on the traditions of Vaxholm. The baltic herring is a classic from Vaxholm that is always on our menu. However, due to overfishing and environmental toxins, baltic herring is no longer a given dish to serve.

We strive as much as possible to that everything we serve is kind to our earth. Therefore, we choose fish that comes from sustainable fishing (MSC, ASC). Meat from countries with good animal husbandry, preferably Sweden. Organic (EKO) and vegan friendly (VEGAN) wines, beers and coffee. We also choose to continuously remove products from companies blacklisted by Ukraine.

We are open almost every day of the year. Through collaborations with Destination Vaxholm, local producers, community life, accommodation and shops we contribute and work together for a living archipelago all year round.
